Crocker, Francis Valene Rasmussen
passed away June 7, 2009, in Mesa, Arizona. She is survived by her husband, George Oliver Crocker, Jr. and her six children - Craig Keith Crocker (Nancy) of Mesa, AZ; Cheri Dee Winzeler (Larry) of Highland, UT; Janice Valene Copenhaver (Mort) of Cave Creek, AZ; Eric George Crocker of Gilbert, AZ; David Oliver Crocker (Debbie) of Tucson, AZ and Brent Edward Crocker of Sun City, AZ. She has seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Porter of Salt Lake City, UT and two nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alta Rasmussen and brothers, Keith and Garth Rasmussen. During her husband's military career, Valene enjoyed living in France and Germany. The family also lived in many places throughout the United States. Moved to Sierra Vista, AZ as early as 1964, she enjoyed raising her family there for many years before moving to Mesa in 1988. She was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah, on June 25, 1931, and spent the last years of her life in Sun City and Mesa, Arizona. She was the granddaughter of Danish immigrants and her father worked as a copper miner which brought the family to Bingham Canyon. During her growing up years, she spent many summers in Redmond, Utah where the extended family settled. Services will be held at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald St., Mesa, AZ on Thursday, June 11, 2009. Visitation from 5:00 - 6:00 pm and funeral services from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Internment will be at 9:30 am on Friday, June 12, 2009 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. Being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she'll be extremely missed by her family and all that knew her. Family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to a Parkinson's charity of choice.
