The happy campers!
Cameron, Janie and Zephyr taking a walk in the forest
Janie on the edge of the rim
Last weekend we took our kids camping. This was their first camping trip ever and most certainly not their last. We had a great time! We went up with my Dad, Cathy and their kids and we even took our dogs. When we first got up to where we thought we might try camping it was a campsite. There were like a million people, outhouses, and even a little cement spot to park your car on.. umm, no, not our idea of camping! We all kind of looked around and went no thank you.. we don't want to be smelling the pooper all night.. well, that isn't what my Dad said exactly ;) Anyway, we left and went further into the woods and camped out in a more secluded spot. Zephyr loved being able to run around without a leash and poor Bella was kept a little closer because she tends to want to be bear food. Anyway, we went out searching for fire wood and when we had enough made a campfire. Janie had so much fun looking for lizards with Joey and building forts with Cameron. Kelan liked camping too but had a hard time walking around on all the rocks and kept tripping. He got his first scraped knee but like his millionth bump on his forehead.. poor little guy! Later that day we took the kids on their first ever fishing trip too. Janie LOVED it! Kelan loved standing by the lake with his pole mimicking everyone else with probably no idea why we were all doing that! We didn't catch any fish, but it was ok.. it was just as much fun to put worms on our hooks and catch crawdads. That night we made smores and talked around the campfire. In the morning we made breakfast and hung around a little more then headed home. It was so much fun and we are going to try to go more often. Thanks Dad and Cathy for helping us survive our first camping trip with our kids! We love you guys! I forgot to tell my favorite moment of the whole trip (well, one of them). Janie won't ever wera shorts or pants (only leggings). This has been going on since last winter! Well, I finally told her that she had to wear jeans when we were camping so she did without an rgument. That was huge!!! Anyway, later that night she came running up to me and hugged me and said "Mom, I just LOVE camping" and ran away, but then turned ran back and said "and I LOVE wearing jeans too!!" Yay, fun winter months to come with cute jeans and a summer that i can finally buy shorts!!!
